*Music producer and talent manager Benny Medina, who manages Jennifer Lopez, and has worked with celebrities like Sean “Puff Daddy” Combs and Will Smith, has listed his house in the Hollywood Hills for sale. Medina spent five years renovating the home, which he is asking for $12.995 million.
Built in 1963, Medina, 57, bought the property for $3.5 million in 2003 from entertainment executive Randy Phillips, the CEO of Global Entertainment, according to public records.
“Everything in the house is a vintage piece,” Medina said, revealing that he undertook most of the design work himself, and went through three contractors before completing the project. “I made very good decisions and I made very bad decisions, and I paid the price for it,” he said, adding that he won’t give the renovation cost “because I would be embarrassed.”
LA Times reports the home’s new details include dark oak wood floors and diamond-patterned coffered ceilings. The home is approximately 5,500 square feet of living space that includes a sunken living room, a formal dining room, a bar, three bedrooms and four bathrooms. The home also boasts floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook the city and an outdoor kitchen equipped with a pizza oven.
WSJ reports that Benny is selling the home because he is spending half the year in New York and would like to take on another renovation project. He is currently serving as executive producer for the NBC series “Shades of Blue,” a police drama starring Jennifer Lopez.
The home is listed with Ben Bacal of Rodeo Realty Fine Estates in Beverly Hills.
Medina, who lived with family members of Motown founder Berry Gordy during his high school years, was the inspiration for “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.” He was also an executive producer on the series which helped launch the career of Will Smith. As we previously reported, Smith’s production company is gearing up to produce a reboot of the series.
