RUN-DMC – THE MUSICAL: New theatre production in the works based on pioneering rap group's rise to fame.

*Paula Wagner has been busy since leaving her gig at United Artists. In addition to developing a film version of Broadway's "Miss Saigon" for director Lee Daniels, the film executive is creating a new original musical with legendary rap group Run-DMC.
"I feel their story lends itself perfectly to the stage," Wagner said, according to Variety. "This project has been a passion of mine for some time and I couldn't be more thrilled to be working with them."

Their inspirational rise is a compelling and dramatic journey and Wagner's new Chestnut Ridge Productions will oversee it, Variety reported Wednesday. She says the story of Joseph "Rev Run" Simmons, Darryl "DMC" McDaniels and group member Jason "Jam-Master Jay" Mizell (who was murdered in 2002) will be told in a unique manner.

Simmons and McDaniels are reportedly meeting with Wagner this week in New York to observe watch and learn from other musicals currently on Broadway.
