UPDATE RIP: LEE THOMPSON YOUNG DEAD FROM SELF-INFLICTED GUNSHOT

Lee Thompson Young’s publicist released a statement to TMZ confirming the actor took his own life this morning, saying:

“It is with great sadness that I announce that Lee Thompson Young tragically took his own life this morning … Lee was more than just a brilliant young actor, he was a wonderful and gentle soul who will be truly missed.”

Sad news this afternoon. TMZ is reporting that former child star Lee Thompson Young, better known as Jett Jackson, is dead. The 29-year-old’s body was found with a gunshot wound that appears to be self-inflicted.

Though we know Lee from Disney’s “The Famous Jett Jackson,” he was one of few child actors who managed to have a career as an adult star as well. In fact, Lee appeared in the TNT show “Rizzoli & Isles,” and according to TMZ, when he didn’t show up to work this morning, staffers called the landlord of Lee’s L.A. home to check up on the actor. He reportedly discovered Lee’s body when he opened the door.
