Robin Thicke Regrets Performing With Miley Cyrus

If Justin Timberlake was the highlight of the MTV Video Music Awards last night, then Miley Cyrus had to be the lowlight — and unfortunately she dragged Robin Thicke, 2 Chainz, and Kendrick Lamar down with her. Now we can’t say whose (non) brilliant idea it was to have a soulful and sensual singer like Robin Thicke share the stage with a twerked out 20-year-old like Miley Cyrus, but rumor has it Robin is regretting his decision the morning after. A source reportedly told US Weekly: “Robin thought it would be fun to include Miley, but he didn’t realize how much she would overshadow him. This was his big night and big performance. I don’t think he would have done it knowing what it ended up like.” We certainly hope he wouldn’t have. For the life of me I can’t understand why this happened at all. Robin Thicke can certainly carry a performance of “Blurred Lines” on his own, plus Pharrell was right there in the audience. What, pray tell, was the reasoning behind having Miley murder — not in a good way — the number one jam of the summer with her off-pitch vocals and latex, cheek-baring booty shorts? Even Miley’s own peers were weirded out — please not the faces of the Smith family and Rihanna. If you listen to another Robin Thicke source, though, the perception is that the odd collabo was all in good fun. A confidante of the 36-year-old singer told US: “He had fun and was fine with how [the performance] came out. He knew what they were going to do and thought it was fun and awesome. He had a great time.” He shouldn’t be fine with it. MTV played the mess out of Robin — or he played the mess out of himself. Either way, this is a pair we never want to see on stage together again, not even if they’re just presenting an award. Check out the performance below in case you missed it last night. -
