*A San Francisco fumble sets up New York for a game-winning field goal in overtime for a 20-17 victory. The Giants will meet the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl on Feb. 5.
Lawrence Tynes kicked a 31-yard field goal with 7:06 left in overtime as the Giants won the National Football Conference’s championship game at Candlestick Park in San Francisco. The winning kick came after the Giants recovered a fumbled punt by Kyle Williams at the 49ers’ 24-yard line.
“It’s amazing, I had dreams about this last night,” Tynes said in a televised interview. “I was so nervous before the game just anticipating this kind of a game.”
