Mo’ne Davis’ Little League Baseball Team Hit With Lawsuit (And I’m Not Kidding!)

*Isn’t your first thought after reading the headline, “Naw, not the baby!”While I’m sure little Miss Mo’ne Davis would object to being called ababy, I hope she realizes we’re saying it with the most “motherly” intent. After all, some man and his wife is suing the Litte League team she plays on, the Taney Youth Baseball Association, for $50,000 in damages. Turns out a man was hit in the eye during one of their little league games.

Davis, who became a sensation during the summer of 2014 because she was the first girl to ever throw a shutout in Little League World Series history,  brought the Philadelphia team a lot of attention as a result.

As for the lawsuit, Anand and Sujata Kumar attended a Taney game at Trolley Works field last May so they could watch their grandson play.  The lawsuit states two boys on the team were playing a game of “toss and catch…outside the fence and negligently close to the stands,” according to Philly.com.  Apparently, the couple was awarethat the boys were tossing the ball too close, but they didn’t make any move to do anything about it.  The baseball reached into the stands and hit 73-year-old Anand in the eye.

The stricken grandfathers’ vision immediately became blurry and he was bleeding.  He was rushed to Pennsylvania Hospital.

But don’t cry any tears for our 13-year-old pitcher-with-a-mean-fastball, she’s busy getting props from the First Lady, who sent her a congratulatory tweet after hearing Mo’ne had been named Sports Illustrated Kids’ “Sports Kid of the Year” on Monday morning. As well as tweets from people such as Ellen DeGeneres and Magic Johnson.

Congrats to @MoneDavis11 on becoming the @SIKids‘ 2014#SportsKid of the Year! You knocked it out of the park for girls everywhere. –mo
