Meek Mill Blasts Drake For Using a Ghostwriter, Rick Ross and Chris Brown Weigh In on the Beef
On Kendrick Lamar’s brilliant rap song “King Kunta,” the Compton MC unleashes a veiled barb against a certain big-name rapper who uses a ghostwriter. “I can dig rapping, but a rapper with a ghostwriter? / What the fuck happened? / (Oh no) I swore I wouldn’t tell / But most of y’all sharing bars like you got the bottom bunk in a two-man cell,” spits Kendrick.
Some thought Kendrick was throwing shade at Kanye West, who was accused of using uncredited ghostwriters back in 2007 by the rapper Consequence following his departure from Kanye’s G.O.O.D. Music imprint. Furthermore, Kendrick was one of twenty credited songwriters on Kanye’s recent single “All Day.” But could the diminutive Angeleno have been going after his longtime collaborator Drake?
Meek Mill, the 28-year-old Philly rapper who’s probably best known to the general public for dating Nicki Minaj, went on a Twitter tantrum early Wednesday morning against Drake. You see, Drake featured on Meek Mill’s recent single “R.I.C.O.” off his acclaimed album Dreams Worth More Than Money. Except Meek now claims Drake didn’t write his lyrics on the track—and that he’s a big ol’ fake who regularly employs a ghostwriter:
The Twitter rant eventually made its way to Rick Ross, who took time out of his busy schedule dealing with 50 Cent and allegedly pistol-whipping the help to weigh in, siding with Drizzy via Twitter (before deleting the tweet):
And Drake’s longtime nemesis Chris Brown decided to throw in his two cents as well:
If you’ll recall, earlier in the evening Meek’s girlfriend Nicki Minaj shaded Taylor Swift on Twitter for being nominated for the Video of the Year MTV VMA over her. And Drake is, of course, the ex-boyfriend of Nicki. He once told me of Nicki: “If there’s any woman in my life that’s the ideal woman for me, it’s definitely Nicki,” said Drake. “I like the stripped-down Nicki. I like Nicki with no makeup, black hair, some casual clothes in a recording booth rapping an amazing verse. That’s sexy to me.” He added, “I know some great women, but all jokes aside, Nicki is somebody I could spend my life with because I think we understand each other.”
It’s been a very busy day in the Mill/Minaj household, to say the least.
Bill Murray, the ball's in your court.
