Magic Johnson Buys into WBLS’s Owner & Says he Quit NBA too Soon

*The magic man, Ervin “Magic” Johnson is reportedly moving towards a controlling interest in broadcaster Inner City Broadcasting Corp. According to TheDeal.com, Inner City’s debt will be sold to Magic Johnson Enterprises and Yucaipa Companies, who partnered earlier this year to buy a controlling interest in Vibe, as well as three FM stations in Phoenix.

Also, according to Target Market News, the debt deal would not give Magic Johnson & Yucaipa control of Inner City, but it could lead to a sale of some of its 17 stations.

Meanwhile, Magic says that if he could do it over again, he would not have cut his career short because of contracting HIV.

Just three months before the 20th anniversary of his announcement that he was retiring from the Lakers, Johnson, in a one-on-one conversation with the Los Angeles Times’ Bill Plaschke, blamed his decision on the lack of knowledge about AIDS.

If he could do it over again, Magic Johnson would not have cut his career short because of contracting HIV.
