Living in the Land of Make Believe: All the Single Ladies! All the Single Ladies!

*Having read an exhaustive amount of articles recently on women, particularly black women and their “singleness”, along with being solidly in that category, I thought I might as well join in the conversation. What is all the hubub, bub?

The subject has been covered from so many different angles. There has been, the consequences of the single parent household, the plight of the independent woman, the type of men who chase these single women, the need to expand one’s horizons and date outside their race (if they don’t already), the breakdown of what’s wrong with these women, among others.

I recently caught up with the beautiful Ms. Meagan Good to see what she had to say about being single.

Monica: Are you single by choice?

Meagan: Yes I’m single by choice. God is my lover until he sends me my husband.

Monica: What are some of the important lessons you’ve learned through dating in the past?

Meagan: I learned that relationships should improve your quality of life, not compromise it. I learned to always keep God first. I have also learned that it’s okay to compromise, but not to compromise the essence of what makes you who you are.

Monica: What are your minimum expectations from a man?

Meagan: My minimum expectations are that: he love the Lord, they are kind to other people, they respect me as a person, they want to be my friend-partner and not just my man.

Monica: What is the best way a man can approach you?

Meagan: A man can approach me by just being honest and straight forward..games are exhausting.

Monica: Do you see any issues arising from the disproportionate number of men to women? If so, what?

Meagan: I haven’t really noticed, but I do think two people who are meant to be will find each other.

Monica: What elements do you think are important when looking for a man?

Meagan: I think the most important thing is they are spiritual (love the Lord)..being that way creates positive habits,out looks,and actions in a person.

I believe Meagan is in the category of “independent” single women. My guess is that she intimidates many men with her looks, celebrity and expectations. However, I believe that her life partner will be made known to her when she’s ready. There are many different reasons why women are single. Some have healing to do, others are busy climbing the corporate ladder. Some are women in waiting for their imperfect perfect mate and others are still grieving the loss of their last love. Some are too difficult, others too passive. Some are too picky and some are simply enjoying life.

No matter what your reason, if you are a single lady, someone is wondering why?

All the Single Ladies! All the Single Ladies! If he likes it, and you’re healthy and ready, and you want it, he’ll put a ring on it.
