*Lenny Kravitz and “Straight Outta Compton” star Corey Hawkins are gearing up to join two major projects for Fox. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the network handed out early series orders to two of its most high-profile pilots this season: “24: Legacy” and the Lee Daniels directed “Star.”

Corey will star in “24: Legacy”, a new take on the popular franchise, “24.” Executive produced by the series’ former lead Kiefer Sutherland, it revolves around a military hero’s (Corey Hawkins) return to the U.S. and the trouble that follows him back — compelling him to ask CTU for help in saving his life, and stopping what potentially could be one of the largest-scale terror attacks on American soil. Miranda Otto, Jimmy Smits and Dan Bucatinsky co-star in the drama. Stephen Hopkins directed the pilot. Sutherland will not have an onscreen role as he stars in ABC’s drama “Designated Survivor.”

“Star,” co-written by Lee Daniels, is a music drama set in Atlanta that follows the lives of three girls who join their talents to form a band. The series will chronicle their rise to the top of the music business and the series of challenges they face. Lenny Kravitz is set to guest star in Star, alongside series regulars Queen Latifah and Benjamin Bratt.
