J.Lo Suddenly on Verge of “American Idol’ Deal?

“American Idol” producers were looking to Jennifer Lopez for the spark that could re-energize the show amid declining ratings and the absence of Simon Cowell – and, according to TMZ, they all but have her on board for the upcoming season.

TMZ cites sources who say there was never any drama or diva demands that threatened to derail the negotiations, contrary to some news reports. As one source puts it, “It’s been typical negotiating.”

The singer/actress is currently finalizing terms with “Idol” producers, according to the website, which added, “We’re told it’s all but a done deal and Jennifer will be the last critical link in the chain.”

A contract could be signed as early as next week, TMZ reported.

So far, Randy Jackson is the lone confirmed judge for the upcoming season
