After being arrested on Friday for allegedly soliciting a male prostitute in Brooklyn, DJ Mister Cee, whose real name is Calvin Lebrun, has finally broken his silenceduring an interview this morning on New York’s Hot 97 radio station.
The 46-year-old DJ went on the record to reveal that he is “not gay” and that the arrest was a part of a “sting operation” that took place after he pulled his car over to make a phone call. He said he was approached by an undercover female officer, contrary to previous reports.
“Thursday night/Friday morning, I was approached by a female, Latino undercover cop. Not a male cop,” he refuted.
According to the New York Daily News, Mister Cee was reportedly approached by an undercover officer on Madison St. and Broadway in Bushwick just before midnight on Thursday
“The female Latino cop, I have her badge number so I know who it is....The first story that came out in the Daily News said it was a female undercover officer and you can research and see that that story was posted. Then they changed it soon after to male undercover officer. I have no idea why it changed.”
The hip hop DJ has run into similar problems in the past. After his 2011 arrest, he pled guilty in New York Criminal Court to a charge of loitering for the purpose of engaging in a prostitution offense.
As the interview continued, he acknowledged that he had been struggling with these problem for quite some time, and addressed his need to seek help.
“Yes, I do like prostitutes. I have engaged a lot with prostitutes in my life many times. Same with strippers. I've tricked on them many times... I don't have an addiction to prostitutes. I have an addiction to instant gratification. I need help. I been dealing with it and trying to deal with it for the last 10-12 years.”
For now Cee has elected to take a break and suspend himself from his Hot97 radio duties.
