*Maya Rudolph will be back in familiar territory this weekend.
The former “Saturday Night Live” cast member returns for the first time as host, and NBC has released her series of promos for the appearance. [Scroll down to watch.]
Rudolph, daughter of the late Minnie Ripperton, has popped up in several sketches since leaving the show in 2007, most notably alongside former castmates Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.
The “Bridesmaids” and “Up All Night” actress’ timely return to the series has raised eyebrows over whether she’ll reprise her long-running parody of Whitney Houston, notes The Hollywood Reporter. In one of her recent appearances, she appeared during the Weekend Update segment, in an all-white suit, breaking into song, yelling Bobby Brown’s name and seeming more than a little out of it.
Last week, on just a few hours’ notice, the series honored Houston by showing a still photo of her 1996 appearance on the show, acting alongside Molly Shannon.
