View ladies spar over cosby

*Things got tense on “The View” this morning during a discussion about Bill Cosby’s rape allegations.

It all boiled down to this: Rosie Perez was trying to make the point that social media has helped to condemn Cosby based on the allegations alone. Co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg and Nicole Wallace agreed, believing people should wait to hear both sides before writing Cosby off completely.

Rosie O’Donnell argued that the sheer amount of women who came forward, and their perceived lack of ulterior motives due to the statute of limitations having passed, is enough to believe that Cosby is 100 percent guilty.

Tension rose as Perez tried in vain to explain that her comment had nothing to do with Cosby’s guilt or innocence. She was just saying that we’re living in a dangerous time when social media can convict someone – or in this case, appear to cause Netflix, TV Land and NBC to drop Cosby – based solely on allegations.

Again, Whoopi sided whole-heartedly with Rosie P, as did Nicole, arguing that the “mob mentality” aspect of social media has contributed to premature conclusions against Cosby.

But Rosie O., seemingly with blinders on, continued to argue solely about Cosby’s guilt, and grew more annoyed by the second that her co-hosts appeared not to care about the rape allegations at all.
