*Reps for comedian Dave Chappelle are denying rumors that he’s planning a return to television – or rather, Internet television.
“Absolutely untrue,” Chappelle’s rep Carla Sims tells EW about the reports.
Sources had told The Daily that Chappelle is planning the comeback after leaving his regular series gig on Comedy Central, the ‘Chappelle Show,” in 2005.
“Dave Chappelle’s going back to TV,” The Daily’s source said. “It’s not for a network. It’s for Netflix or Crackle or some other subscription service.”
Lending credence to the rumor is the fact that several big deals have been made for original programming by such companies. “Fight Club’s” David Fincher will be directing “House of Cards” starring Kevin Spacey for Netflix. And Sony’s Crackle premiered the original web series, “Backwash,” starring Josh Malina, Michael Ian Black, and Michael Panes in 2010.
