Bush out, Vick Back in

Also, news on who's going to start for the Steelers

*New Orleans Saints running back Reggie Bush’s broken leg likely will sideline him nearly six weeks but not the rest of the season. The injury during Monday night’s 25-22 victory at San Francisco.

The bone in Bush’s lower right leg was broken when he recovered his muffed punt with 6:58 remaining. He had trouble catching the ball and was injured during the scrum after he dove for the ball and players landed on him.

“Last second it kind of shifted a little bit, just enough for me to drop it,” he said. “I tried to recover it and somebody took my leg out. I don’t know who it was, what happened or how it happened. I just know my leg got taken out. That’s it.”

In other NFL news, Michael Vick is back in at starting quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles. The news comes a day after head coach Andy Reid said he
would go back to Kevin Kolb.

“When someone is playing at the level Michael Vick is playing, you have to give him an opportunity,” Reid said. “This isn’t about Kevin Kolb’s play. You’re talking about Michael Vick as one the best quarterbacks in the NFL right now.”

Kolb missed the last six quarters because of a concussion, and Vick played well in his absence. Kolb was cleared to practice.

Vick threw for 175 yards and one TD and ran for 103 yards in a 27-20 season-opening loss to Green Bay. Then, he had 284 yards passing and two TDs in a 35-32 win at Detroit.

Finally, the Pittsburgh Steelers’ starting quarterback at Tampa Bay will be a player who was cut last weekend or another who was all but ignored during training camp. No matter, coach Mike Tomlin said, either Byron Leftwich or Charlie Batch will be expected to play well enough to win until Ben Roethlisberger returns from his four-game suspension.

The position thinned out when Dennis Dixon was lost indefinitely with a torn meniscus in his left knee. Dixon is expected to have surgery today and could go on the injured reserve list, which would end his season after two starts – and two victories.
