Big trades steal the day in NFL

Trades stole the NFL headlines on Thursday.

The Eagles finally shipped quarterback Kevin Kolb to Arizona for cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and a second-round draft pick. Kolb, a Stephenville native, is expected to sign a five-year, $63 million contract with $20 million guaranteed with Arizona.

Saints running back Reggie Bush was traded to the Dolphins for safety and special teams standout Jonathon Amaya. Bush was due $11.8 million this season from the Saints but instead will sign a two-year, $9.75 million deal in Miami.

Two years after the Redskins signed defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth to a seven-year, $100 million contract with $41 million in guarantees, Washington shipped him to the New England Patriots for a fifth-round pick in 2013.

The Patriots weren't finished. They also made a deal with the Bengals for receiver Chad Ochocinco, then renegotiated his one-year contract to a three-year deal.

Briefly

49ers: Receiver Michael Crabtree will miss 4-6 weeks with a foot injury, according to the Sacramento Bee.

Bengals: Receiver A.J. Green, the fourth overall pick, signed a 4-year deal.

Broncos: No. 2 overall pick Von Miller, a linebacker from Texas A&M, signed a 4-year, $21 million deal with Denver.

Chiefs: Guard Brian Waters, who made 149 starts in 11 seasons and went to five Pro Bowls, was released.

Eagles: Receiver DeSean Jackson did not report to the team's first practice, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. Jackson, in his fourth season, wants a new contract.

Falcons: Wide receiver Julio Jones, the sixth overall pick in the draft, signed a four-year, $16.2 million fully guaranteed contract with Atlanta.

Giants: Receiver Plaxico Burress is scheduled to meet with his former team tonight, but the sides are a "long ways" off from an agreement, team co-owner John Mara said in a radio interview.

Jaguars: Former Missouri quarterback Blaine Gabbert, the 10th overall pick, signed a contract with Jacksonville.

Panthers: Tight end Greg Olsen was acquired in a trade from the Bears for a 2012 draft pick.

Ravens: Former TCU linebacker Jason Phillips was carted off the field Thursday, one of 11 Ravens bothered by injuries on the first day of practice, said the Baltimore Sun.

Redskins: Receiver Brandon Stokley, who agreed to a one-year deal Wednesday, has changed his mind and won't sign with Washington today, the first day deals can be finalized, said his agent.

Titans: Quarterback Vince Young, due a $4.25 million roster bonus today from Tennessee, was cut.
