*There are now five people facing charges in the Aaron Hernandez case including his girlfriendShayanna Jenkins who was recently indicted on a perjury charge in connection with the killing of his friend.
Bristol County District Attorney Samuel Sutter revealed that a grand jury chose to indict Jenkins on a perjury charge in connection with the killing of Hernandez’s friend Odin Lloyd.
Sutter’s spokeman, Gregg Miliote, is unable to speak on anything until the arraignment, which hasn’t been set. Jenkins’ lawyer has yet to respond and it’s not clear what led to her being charged.
Lloyd was a semiprofessional football player who was dating Jenkin’s sister and was killed on June 17. The Boston native was found shot to death in an industrial park in North Attleborough, Mass. His body was found near Hernandez and Jenkins’s residence.
Hernandez is currently being held without bail. He was charged with first-degree murder and weapons charges in Lloyd’s death and pleaded not guilty.
Ernest Wallace, Carlos Ortiz and Tanya Singleton are the other three being brought up on charges in the case. Wallace and Ortiz were both charged with accessory to murder while Singleton was indicted on the charge of conspiracy to commit accessory after the fact.
Wallace has already pleaded not guilty with Ortiz soon to follow. A message seeking comment was left for Singleton’s attorney.
