‘Watch the Throne’ Breaks iTunes Record; Jay-Z Pops $100,000 Champagne

*Jay-Z and Kanye West have just broken Coldplay’s three-year record for iTunes downloads.

The duo managed to tally up over 290,000 downloads of their new disc “Watch The Throne” since it hit iTunes on Aug. 8.

The feat breaks a record set by Coldplay’s 2008 album “Viva La Vida,” which sold over 282,000 digital copies through the online store in its first week.

“Watch The Throne,” is also expected to sell in excess of 500,000 copies in the US this week, which would put the set comfortably atop the Billboard 200 next week.

Meanwhile, Jay Z celebrated the album release on Sunday by treating guests at a Miami nightclub Liv to drinks from a $100,000 bottle of champagne.

Jigga purchased a massive 3.96-gallon bottle of Ace of Spades Champagne to drink with guests such as Ne-Yo and DJ Clue.

A source tells the New York Post’s Page Six column, “It takes two people to serve the Champagne due to the size and weight of the bottle.”

Not in attendance for the album release were West, who was performing at a festival in Finland, and Jay Z’s wife Beyonce, who was onstage in New York for the first of four sold out shows at Manhattan’s Roseland Ballroom.
