PRECIOUS'S DVD DEBUTS AT #1

*On the heels of its two Oscar wins, Lionsgate’s “Precious” debuted at No. 1 this week on the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert sales chart, and at No. 3 on the rental chart.

The film about an illiterate Harlem teen who turns her life around earned Academy Awards for best screenplay (Geoffrey Fletcher) and best supporting actress (Mo’Nique).

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment’s “The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day,” meanwhile, debuted at No. 1 on the Nielsen VideoScan Blu-ray Disc chart — and bowed at No. 2 on the overall chart, selling just 18% fewer units than “Precious.”

On Home Media Magazine’s rental chart, neither title could beat Sony Pictures’ “2012.” The blockbuster disaster movie easily held on to the No. 1 position, with rental demand down just 22% from the previous week.
