Oprah Video: Jackman Hurt; More Giveaways, Jay-Z Surprises School

*Oprah’s Ultimate Australian Adventure turned dangerous for one participant Tuesday when Australian actor Hugh Jackman was injured during taping of one of two shows scheduled for production in and around the Sydney Opera House.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Jackman was making a dramatic entrance on a flying fox — a heavy-duty wire set with a harness and handle assembly that slides on wheels — when he hits the brakes too late and hit some light rigging. [Scroll down to watch.] He was able to descend, saying that it was worse than playing rugby.

The “Wolverine” star was removed from the set bleeding from underneath his right eye. Winfrey suspended taping for the show for about 10 minutes to ensure that Jackman received proper medical attention. He later returned and carried on with his scheduled interview segment, sporting an adhesive bandage over the wound and a fresh, black eye but appearing otherwise unshaken.

In an exhibition of true show-must-go-on spirit, Jackman also participated in a musical production number to close the show.

As previously reported, the Sydney Opera House shows are two of four installments of Oprah’s final season that will be produced from Oprah’s Ultimate Australian Adventure, an eight-day odyssey that has taken the talk show queen around the southern continent, along with 302 audience members from the U.S. and Australia. The Jackman snafu was just a small part of several hours worth of filming at the Opera House, which was renamed the “Oprah House” for the occasion. She opened the morning shows with a loud “Look at you, Australia. Aussie Aussie Aussie” and finishing the day saying “I hope the world comes down under to experience what I’ve experienced.”

She handed out over $1.25 million in gifts to needy recipients, diamond and pearl necklaces to the 12,000 audience members during the day.

Russell Crowe walked from his harborside home to join the taping and showed off his South Sydney Rabbitohs Rugby League team. Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin’s widow Terri, and her kids – Bob, 6, in his first public appearance, and Bindi, now 12, had an emotional reunion with Winfrey; hip-hop star Jay-Z paid a surprise visit to Canterbury Boys High School, an underprivileged Sydney school; and Winfrey revealed that sponsors Microsoft and HP were donating $1 million worth of laptops to all the students and teachers at the school and will help upgrade the schools library and music rooms.

Oprah also gave $250,000 to Kristian Anderson and his family so they can spend time as a family while he undergoes treatment for cancer. Bon Jovi wrapped the show.

Four hours later another 6,000-strong audience hit the Sydney Opera House forecourt for a star-studded final episode featuring Bono, Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban, Olivia Newton-John and Jackman.
