Ye, Yeezy, Yeezus, Mr. West — Kanye West has run through a number of nicknames over the years. But thanks to the Art Institute of Chicago, Kanye has a new, more official title to brand himself on his next album: Dr. West

The notorious college dropout returned to his hometown to accept an honorary doctorate from SAIC, which recognized his “transformative, genre-defying work” during their graduation ceremony Monday afternoon. In his doctoral speech, he discussed his art, process and the importance of apologizing. Unsurprisingly, he says “I’m sorry” for very different reasons than we do.

“‘I’m sorry’ is something that you can use,” he said. “It gives you the opportunities to give your opinion, apologize for it and give it again.”

But Kanye is Kanye, so he also teased some of his past controversies on stage.

“George Bush….has some very cool self-portraits,” he said as the audience laughed. “I didn’t know he was an artist!”
