Justin Combs Recruited by Major College Football Programs

*As if he needed one, Sean “Diddy” Combs’ son, Justin Combs, has been offered scholarships by several colleges, but so far is undecided.

According to Scout.com, the University of Illinois offered the senior a scholarship last week and expects Combs to visit the school soon. In an interview with Scout.com, Combs spoke about his prospects:

“They (Illinois) seemed very excited. We talked about the academics, the football team, the campus, the life there and stuff like that just so I could know a little bit about it. I am going to go out there and see the campus soon before my season.”

Illinois joins Virginia, UAB, Middle Tennessee and Wyoming as programs who have offered a scholarship. Also Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas State, UCLA, Arizona State and Cincinnati have also expressed interest. Young Combs is also adamant about proving that he deserves a scholarship not because of who he is, but because of what he can do.

“Ever since I was young my father always told me that people were going to have something to say,” Combs explained. “At the end of the day it is all fun and games to try to get you out of your game, but you just have to stay mentally strong and be able to play through it.”

Combs, a 5-foot-9, 175-pound defensive back won the attention of scouts after performing well at New York’s Iona Prep.  He earned interest from recruiters after a strong performance at the New Level 7-on-7 national championship where he earned Scout.com all-tournament honors by shutting down some of the best receivers in the country.
