Beauty Expert: Celebrity MUA Rodney Jon Dishes On How To Reinforce Your Natural Beauty!!!

Juicy: Celebrities always have an amazing natural glow to their skin with or without makeup, what’s the secret?

Rodney Jon: It has to start with a regular skincare regimen. A lot of women try to skip the whole skincare aspect, and that’s the most important part. If your using the correct serums, eye creams, moisturizers, and treatments on a regular basis it will improve your skin, and you’ll will find yourself using less makeup products.

I absolutely love using AVEDA’S Tourmaline Collection when it comes to achieving a natural glow.

Juicy: Women of color tend to have trouble finding foundation coverage that looks natural, any suggestions?

RJ: Women of color have to take into consideration that they have a lot of different skin tones in their skin. So going into the store to buy one product isn’t the best option. You may have to do two different concealers or two foundations and place them in specific areas on your skin to meet your pigment needs. Consult a professional to help you find the correct colors, and try brands like OPAL, BOBBI BROWN, IMAN, or MAC.

Juicy: When it comes to women applying their own makeup what are absolute DO’s to achieve a flawless face without over doing it?

RJ: I love the technique of building and blending your makeup. You want to start with a light amount of product [this could be concealer, foundation, eye shadow, or whatever the case may be] and build it to perfection. Remember, it’s always easier to build and create a look by adding more product, than it is to remove product. After you build and blend your look, always highlight with a bronzer or cream blush to create a glow on your t-zone, forehead, chin, and right above your cheekbones. Finish it up with a natural brow that isn’t too thin or heavily darkened, and bring it all together with a personal lip color that’s within your comfort zone.

Juicy: Speaking of lip color, tell us about your new lipstick line Divalicious…

RJ: I’m very excited about the Divalicious line, it’s is my baby! I partnered with LTW Custom Cosmetics and created my first five shades of matte based lipstick colors. Made with natural oils and fragrances, it’s perfect for any skin tone, any occasion, and I use it on all of my clients!

Juicy: What’s next for Rodney Jon?

RJ: Right now I want to focus on expanding my celebrity clientele as well as expand my lipstick collection. But eventually I want to start an agency where I can teach and give MUA the opportunity to live out their passion and dreams.
